On the way to the Oppo Meet, Daender and I stopped by this museum in Maggie Valley, NC. Some of you might find it familiar, as it was featured on American Pickers a few times, and even had it’s own show. I thought it was awesome and definitely worth the visit.

Now that I have met you, I am reading everything you write with your voice tone and accent in my head. I wonder how long that will last. (Great to have met you, by the way. Come autocross with CCR. )

I am going to try to shoot for the November one, but I’m glad I can narrate through your head now.

Actually, I realize that I may be making a conscious effort, so your voice in my head m ay not last long. Hopefully I’ll see you in November!

Wow, that is one hell of a place!

Great shots! You might want to invest in a tripod as you continue to improve as a photographer. Some of the pictures aren’t 100% clear, maybe due to movement?

Yep. Due to meds I took as a child, I just kind of shake a little in the hands. Low light + slow shutter speed = motion blur. I have a tripod, but I’m not going to be that guy that gets in peoples way.

It was pretty great, and I need to go to Barber now.

I saw reviews that mentioned it before I bought it, but my new camera is not great in low light. So far that shows up as grainy images, but I can understand the blur issue you had, I’ve had that before on cameras. It takes a lot of work to find a good manual setting in those conditions, if it is even possible.

Was not aware of this place, but looks like you’ve given me something to check out on the way up to Red White and Bristol.

While you are there, eat at the Maggie Valley Restaurant. Get the fried chicken and squash casserole as a side.

Yeah, some turned out well, some did not. Can you slow down the shutter speed?

Well, depends on how adjustable the camera is, but yours should have that available. Without a tripod, what you want is a relatively fast shutter speed so that your shaking isn’t picked up as a blur. But to do that you need a high ISO setting and/or a high f/stop (larger open aperature to let in more light). Since I haven’t messed with such settings in many years, there could be other approaches. I may start messing with things like that on my new camera.

The problem with high ISO is grainyness. I could just invest in a gimble or whatever they are called.

Yeah, that might be better than a tripod. Even with my camera’s supposedly good stabilizer, it was still noticeably shaky as I filmed down the line of cars on Saturday, so if you were to do any filming it would come in handy for that, too.

That does look quite good.
